At the start of each new school year, Head of Junior School, Mrs Rita Boys-Smith, sets the tone for students K – 6 by introducing a theme that underpins the activities, events and learning for that year.

In 2025, the theme Stronger Together represents a celebration of kindness, resilience and belonging.

“The idea is to celebrate who we are together. A caring, strong, and connected community.”

“The theme not only guides daily interactions but also reflects the values that make our school a nurturing and inclusive environment. My hope is that it inspires students in their learning, relationships, and personal growth,” explained Mrs Boys-Smith.

To bring the theme to life, students have been encouraged to create visual representations that will be displayed in classrooms, at assemblies, and throughout the school.

Students used colour, symbolism, mixed media and even clay work to express their understanding of the theme.

Devyani (Year 5) said of her artwork, “The idea popped up straight into my mind. I was picturing people holding hands and smiling. The fist up in the air means we’re all stronger together and we can achieve anything.”

Year 6 student Cynthia said “I chose to represent diversity in skin colour and culture, and the swirl represents light and how we’re all connected. I wanted to show how we can be strong today, stronger tomorrow and stronger together.”
